Curriculum

The curriculum spans fundamental concepts to advanced applications in AI and autonomous systems. It includes modules on machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and practical applications in autonomous systems.

The program delivers comprehensive training through six modules covering probability and linear algebra fundamentals, machine learning basics, deep learning, sequential decision making, reinforcement learning algorithms, and applications to autonomous systems. Each module combines theoretical concepts with hands-on lab work.

Prof. Shalabh Bhatnagar is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation and an Associate Faculty at the Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems, IISc. His research focuses on Stochastic Approximation Algorithms, Reinforcement Learning, Autonomous Systems, Smart Grids, and Vehicular Traffic Control. He heads the Stochastic Systems Laboratory at IISc and has authored numerous research papers and the book Stochastic Recursive Algorithms for Optimization. He has led projects for DRDO, Xerox, DST-GoI, and Texas Instruments and has received accolades like the Prof. Satish Dhawan Young Engineer Award (2013) and the Rajib Goyal Young Scientist Prize.

Assistant Professor at the Robert Bosch Center for Cyber-Physical Systems and the Department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc

Prof. Shishir Kolathya is an Assistant Professor at the Robert Bosch Center for Cyber-Physical Systems and the Department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc. His research focuses on Hybrid Robotic Systems, Safety-Critical Control, and the Application of Learning Theory to Legged Locomotion. He leads IISc’s Stochastic Robotics Lab, developing learning-based controllers for quadrupeds. Previously, he worked as an R&D Engineer at Tejas Networks, Bangalore, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech, USA. His research primarily explores robotics, particularly Bipedal Robotic Locomotion.

Distinguished Biomedical Engineering Expert and Medical Device Innovator

Hardik J. Pandya serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, where he leads three laboratories focused on biomedical device development. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi and postdoctoral research at both the University of Maryland and Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on developing minimally invasive and non-invasive diagnostic technologies for cancer and neurological conditions, with particular emphasis on brain, breast, head, and neck cancer diagnosis, as well as e-nose applications for diabetes screening. His significant contributions to the field are evidenced by 10 granted patents, 17 filed patents, and over 66 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals including Nature Microsystems and Nanoengineering. His excellence has been recognized through multiple awards including the Early Career Research Award (2017), ISSS Young Scientist Award (2020), and the DST Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship (2023). As a technical advisor to two Indian MedTech firms and founder of Scilogic Applied Research Private Limited, he actively works to translate biomedical innovations from laboratory to market.
