Applied Linguistics Expert and English Language Education Specialist
Gabriela E. Cortés Sánchez serves as Full Professor "C" at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM-A), bringing a unique combination of legal and linguistic expertise through her law degree from UAM-A and Master's in Applied Linguistics from UNAM. Her credentials include both the First Certificate and Certificate of Proficiency in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the Anglo Mexicano de Cultura A.C. and The British Council. Her leadership experience includes serving as CELEX Coordinator at UAM-A (2001-2007) and Academic Coordinator of the Saturday Courses program for over 15 years. Her academic contributions include co-authoring "English for Economists" and "Aprender a aprender," presenting at more than 124 national and international conferences, and publishing approximately 78 research articles in Applied Linguistics. Currently, she directs the Electronic Journal Re Lingüística at UAM-A while teaching courses including "Reading and Comprehension of Text in English" through Coursera, demonstrating her commitment to expanding access to English language education.
Chemical Engineering Expert and Sustainable Processes Researcher
Dr. Carlos Youth Lopez Jimenez serves as Full Professor at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM-Cuajimalpa) in the Department of Processes and Technology. His academic excellence was evident early in his career when he graduated with First Place Nationally and Outstanding Performance recognition through the CENEVAL exam for his Bachelor's in Industrial Chemical Engineering from the Autonomous University of Yucatan. He continued his education at UNAM, earning both his Master's and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Bioengineering, completing his doctorate in 2014. His research focuses on using biocatalysts for synthesizing chemical species, particularly esters and polymers with novel properties, emphasizing cleaner and sustainable processes. Following his doctorate, he completed postdoctoral research at the Scientific Research Center of Yucatan, focusing on semiconductor nanostructures. His scientific contributions include two first-author publications and a granted patent through IMPI. His teaching experience spans secondary, higher, and postgraduate levels, including positions at CICY, UAEMEX Acolman, UNCOS in Pinotepa Nacional, and currently at UAM-Cuajimalpa, where he teaches subjects across physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering.
