Kolan M. Reddy

About Me

Kolan Madhav Reddy serves as a Tenured Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). His academic journey includes a PhD from Tohoku University, Japan (2013), and degrees from IIT Kanpur (M.Tech, 2010) and MGIT Hyderabad (B.Tech, 2007), followed by postdoctoral research at Johns Hopkins University (2014-2016). Since joining SJTU in 2017, he has established himself as a leading researcher in materials science, focusing on advanced ceramics, high entropy materials, and catalytic materials. His research impact is evidenced by over 100 peer-reviewed publications garnering more than 2,600 citations (h-index: 30). He teaches key courses including "Fundamentals of Materials Science" and "Transmission Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy." His achievements include the Teaching Award from SJTU (2018) and the Dr. R.L. Thakur Memorial Young Scientist Award (2017) from the Indian Ceramic Society. His research emphasizes understanding advanced materials at the atomic scale, particularly for defense, space, and sustainable energy applications.
