Janet Dobbins

Janet Dobbins has established herself as a leader in data science education and community development, currently serving as VP of Business Development at Elder Research. After earning her B.A. in English and Economics from the University of Virginia, she began her career at Xerox Corporation as an Account Executive before transitioning to data science education. At Statistics.com's Institute for Statistics Education, she directed community outreach, communication, and marketing initiatives. Her work focuses on developing innovative curriculum with colleges and universities while helping industry teams acquire essential data science and technical skills. As past President and current Board member of Data Community DC, a non-profit organization with over 4,000 members, she has fostered data science education and professional development through various community events including job fairs, conferences, educational workshops, and hackathons. Her leadership has helped shape the data science community in the National Capital Region through high-quality, community-driven initiatives.
