Peter Bruce

Peter Bruce is the Chief Learning Officer at Elder Research and the Founder of the Institute for Statistics Education at Statistics.com, which specializes in online education in statistics and data analytics. He has co-authored several influential works, including Responsible Data Science (Wiley, 2021), Data Mining for Business Analytics (Wiley, 2006–2021), which has seen 13 editions and is used in over 600 universities worldwide, and Practical Statistics for Data Scientists (O'Reilly, 2nd ed. 2020). Additionally, he authored Introductory Statistics and Analytics: A Resampling Perspective (Wiley, 2015). Grant Fleming is a Senior Data Scientist at Elder Research, known for his collaborative approach to developing innovative solutions that address complex client challenges. He co-authored the book Responsible Data Science (Wiley, 2021) and contributed to 97 Things About Ethics Everyone in Data Science Should Know (O'Reilly), reflecting his commitment to ethical practices in data science. His primary technical interests include hierarchical modeling, deep learning, network analysis, and natural language processing. With a Master’s degree from the Institute for Advanced Analytics at North Carolina State University and a BA from the University of South Carolina, Grant focuses on machine learning applications for social science, model explainability, and creating tools for reproducible data science. As past President and current Board member of Data Community DC, a non-profit organization with over 4,000 members, she has fostered data science education and professional development through various community events including job fairs, conferences, educational workshops, and hackathons.
