Versatile Educator and Theatre Professional Shaping Management Education at HEC Montréal

EdxGilles Cazabon, now retired since July 2018, had a distinguished career as a Senior Lecturer (Maître d'enseignement) in the Department of Management at HEC Montréal. His diverse background spans sociology, theatre, and management education. Cazabon's academic journey began at Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, followed by various careers including acting, before returning to higher education. He taught as a lecturer at the Université de Montréal and HEC Montréal from 1983 to 1987, and as a sociology professor at Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface from 1988 to 1990. Cazabon's passion for theatre led him to found the troupe Les Chiens de Soleil and the Festival Carrefour Théâtre, and he served as Director of Public Relations for Compagnie Jean Duceppe. His teaching career at HEC Montréal spanned from 1992 to 2018, transitioning from lecturer to Senior Lecturer in 2008. Cazabon's courses covered sociology of work, management, and business strategy. His excellence in teaching was recognized with HEC Montréal's 2005 Award for Excellence in Pedagogy as a Lecturer and later as a Senior Lecturer. Additionally, he served as Assistant to the Pedagogical Director of Certificate Programs, further contributing to HEC Montréal's educational initiatives.
