The University of QueenslandAnuj Sehgal is currently a Senior Research Officer at Wesley Research Institute, where he leads translational research projects in gastrointestinal disorders. After completing his PhD at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh (2013-2017), where he developed expertise in gut homeostasis and dysfunction, he joined the Mater Research Institute in 2018 as a Research Officer studying macrophages in growth and development. His research combines discovery-based and translational approaches to understand disease triggers, progression, and manifestations of gastrointestinal disorders such as Celiac Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. With over 1,100 citations to his work, his most significant contributions include groundbreaking research on CSF1R-dependent macrophages and intestinal stem-cell niche control. He maintains multiple academic affiliations, including positions as Honorary Research Fellow at Mater Research Institute, Honorary Fellow at the University of Queensland, and Visiting Scientist at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Beyond his research, Sehgal is actively involved in professional societies including the Society of Leukocyte Biology, Australasian Society of Immunology, and the International Society for the Study of Celiac Disease.
