Associate Professor of Accounting and Management Control

Sebastian D. Becker is an Associate Professor at HEC Paris, where he holds the Nexans chair for "Orchestrating Sustainable Business Transformation." He earned his Ph.D. from WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in 2011 and has extensive experience in both academia and research, having previously served as a post-doc at WHU and as a visiting scholar at various prestigious institutions across Europe. His research focuses on the diffusion and implementation of accounting and control techniques in organizations, with particular expertise in budgeting and forecasting, as well as management practices in startups. Becker teaches courses in Management Accounting and Control, Business Performance Management, and has developed an online course on scaling startups through Coursera. Recognized for his teaching excellence, he has received several awards, including the Pierre Vernimmen Best Teacher Award and accolades for innovative teaching initiatives.

Associate Professor of Marketing

Kristine de Valck is an Associate Professor of Marketing at HEC Paris, where her research and teaching focus on the impact of the Internet and social media on consumer behavior, organizations, and marketing practices. She has authored several articles addressing contemporary issues in marketing, including the role of social media during crises and the dynamics of electronic word-of-mouth.
