Dr. Combellick is a certified nurse midwife and graduate of the Yale School of Nursing, with a master's in nursing/midwifery and a PhD in Global Public Health from NYU. Her research explores the impact of birth interventions on the neonatal microbiome. She completed an Advanced Women’s Health Fellowship at the VA in West Haven, focusing on improving maternity care for high-risk individuals, particularly those with psychological trauma or mental health challenges. Dr. Combellick also investigates care models that support the natural biological and psychological processes during pregnancy and birth.
Assistant Professor of Nursing at Yale University
Dr. Michelle Telfer is a Certified Nurse Midwife and an Assistant Professor specializing in midwifery and women’s health at the Yale School of Nursing. She also holds a faculty position in the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Telfer is a Fellow of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and serves on the Education Committee of the Division of Global Engagement at ACNM.She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University, a Master's in Global Public Health from Tulane University, and a Master's in Science in Midwifery from Columbia University. With nearly two decades of experience providing full-scope midwifery care in New York City and New Haven, CT, Dr. Telfer is actively involved in advancing midwifery education and clinical excellence, particularly in collaboration with Makerere University in Uganda to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
