Gender-Inclusive STEM Education Design

Carlos Turró serves as Head of Media Services at the Universitat Politècnica de València, where he combines his roles as multimedia services director and data network administrator. With both an MD and PhD, he has published more than 50 articles on information systems and educational technologies in international conferences and journals. His groundbreaking work includes the development of Polimedia for video e-learning, which earned the Spanish FICOD award and was a finalist for the EUNIS ETLF award. As a key innovator in educational technology, he leads the transLectures project for automatic transcription and translation of educational videos. Under his leadership, UPV has become a leader in educational technology, producing thousands of video learning objects and virtual labs that have transformed digital education. His expertise spans across multimedia systems, network administration, and educational technology innovation, making him a pivotal figure in advancing digital learning solutions.

Silvia Barattieri serves as Head of the Equal Opportunities Unit at Politecnico di Milano, where she leads initiatives to implement the university's diversity and inclusion mission. After earning her MSc and PhD in History from the University of Milan, she has focused her career on advancing women's studies and gender equality in academic settings. Her work includes coordinating the university's Gender Equality Plan and leading the Polytechnic Equal Opportunities (POP) initiative, which addresses five key areas: gender identity, multiculturalism, sexual orientation, disability, and psychological wellbeing

Valeria Baudo serves as a Project Manager and Instructional Designer at METID (Methods and Innovative Technologies for Learning) at Politecnico di Milano, where she specializes in MOOC development and gender equality initiatives. Her work focuses on designing innovative educational content with particular emphasis on promoting gender balance in STEM fields. She played a key role in the FOSTWOM Erasmus+ project (2019-2022), developing tools and methodologies to create gender-inclusive STEM MOOCs. As a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Project Manager, she contributes to various initiatives including the development of gender-balanced educational content and participates in European discussions on diversity in higher education. Her expertise extends to platform management, community engagement, and the design of educational innovations that promote inclusive learning environments. Through her work on projects like "Women in STEM - a MOOC for Educators," she continues to advance gender equality in technical education.

Giorgio Bórdiga is a professional videomaker and motion graphics designer who specializes in user-centered content creation. Since establishing himself as a freelancer in 2013, he has worked with private companies and startups, producing instructional, promotional, and corporate videos. From 2016 to 2021, he served at the Learning Innovation Department (METID) of Politecnico di Milano, where he made significant contributions to various educational technology projects, including MOOCs and blended learning initiatives. His expertise in creating engaging educational content has supported the university's digital learning platforms, combining his creative skills with educational technology to produce effective learning materials. His work spans across promotional content creation for the university and the development of innovative educational video content.

Paola Corti serves as a Project Manager at Politecnico di Milano's METID (Methods and Innovative Technologies for Learning) center, where she specializes in instructional design for MOOCs on the POK platform. Her expertise spans across course design, international collaboration, and educational innovation. As an instructional designer, she has coordinated multiple successful MOOC projects, bringing together international testimonials and managing both design and production teams. Her work includes developing courses on active learning, assessment strategies, and open educational resources, demonstrating her commitment to advancing innovative teaching methodologies. Through her leadership, she has contributed to creating engaging learning experiences that combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, making education more accessible and effective through digital platforms.
