Cassandra Collins serves as Associate Professor in Viticulture and Program Director of the Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide, bringing over 25 years of research experience to viticulture education. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, PhD in Horticulture, and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Adelaide. Before academia, she gained hands-on industry experience as a cellar hand, assistant winemaker, and viticulturist. Her research specializes in grapevine reproduction, yield prediction, organic and biodynamic vineyard management, canopy management, terroir, and innovative technologies for assessing vine performance. She has led significant research projects, including a six-year study in McLaren Vale examining the sustainability and wine quality impacts of organic and biodynamic viticulture compared to conventional methods. As Associate Editor of OENO One and member of the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture editorial board, she maintains active involvement in academic publishing. Her teaching emphasizes practical applications of viticultural science, supervising numerous PhD and Masters students while contributing to the development of sustainable vineyard management practices.
