This course is part of Introducción a la inteligencia artificial.
This course explores computational creativity, examining whether machines can be creative and how this emerging field of artificial intelligence has evolved. Students will analyze theories, methodologies, and techniques for programming and evaluating creative systems across various domains including narrative generation, music, scientific discovery, and visual arts. Throughout the course, participants progressively build their own creative artificial agent, specifically focusing on abstract art generation. The program covers fundamental concepts like combinational, exploratory, and transformational creativity while providing practical implementation experience. Basic knowledge of programming (Python) and genetic algorithms is required for successful participation.

There are 4 modules in this course
This comprehensive course explores the emerging field of computational creativity across four progressive modules. Students begin by examining the fundamental concepts of creativity, the history of creative machines, and the current state of creative systems across various domains. The second module differentiates between intelligent and creative computational programs, introducing combinational, exploratory, and transformational creativity frameworks. In modules three and four, students develop practical skills by building their own artificial creative agent—specifically an abstract art painter. This hands-on project includes implementing internal and external representations, generative processes, and both internal and external evaluation methods. The course culminates with students analyzing how their artificial painter's creations are perceived by human audiences.
