This course is part of Introducción a la inteligencia artificial.
This theoretical course explores cognitive science and its relationship to artificial intelligence as part of the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence specialization. Cognitive science studies knowledge across multiple disciplines including psychology, neurophysiology, linguistics, philosophy, and artificial intelligence. The course demonstrates how cognitive sciences can help build more sophisticated intelligent systems, while AI advances benefit other cognitive sciences. Students will learn the history and key concepts of cognitive sciences, reflect on the importance of the body, environment, culture, technology, and dynamic processes in studying the mind, and examine open problems in artificial cognition and consciousness, as well as social aspects of cognition. The goal is to develop discourse about cognition in humans, animals, other living beings, and machines.
