Cognición encarnada

This course is part of Introducción a la inteligencia artificial.

This theoretical course explores cognitive science and its relationship to artificial intelligence as part of the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence specialization. Cognitive science studies knowledge across multiple disciplines including psychology, neurophysiology, linguistics, philosophy, and artificial intelligence. The course demonstrates how cognitive sciences can help build more sophisticated intelligent systems, while AI advances benefit other cognitive sciences. Students will learn the history and key concepts of cognitive sciences, reflect on the importance of the body, environment, culture, technology, and dynamic processes in studying the mind, and examine open problems in artificial cognition and consciousness, as well as social aspects of cognition. The goal is to develop discourse about cognition in humans, animals, other living beings, and machines.

There are 3 modules in this course

This comprehensive course explores cognitive sciences and their relationship to artificial intelligence across three modules. The first module covers the history of cognitive sciences, introducing key concepts in cognition studies and establishing fundamental principles like the synthetic method and the embodiment of mind. The second module delves deeper into the relationship between mind, body, and environment, explaining concepts of embodied mind, embedded mind, extended mind, and enactive mind and their relevance to cognitive sciences. The final module examines artificial cognition, social influences on cognition, and the scientific study of consciousness, addressing emerging questions about artificial consciousness and implications for AI development. Throughout all modules, students engage with both theoretical concepts and practical applications.
