Scott Klemmer is a distinguished Professor of Cognitive Science and Computer Science & Engineering at the University of California San Diego, where he co-founded and serves as Associate Director of the Design Lab. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at Stanford University, where he co-directed the Human-Computer Interaction Group. Klemmer's groundbreaking work has influenced organizations globally through the development of open-source design tools and curricula. He is recognized for introducing peer assessment in online education, having taught the first peer-assessed course in this format. His accolades include the Katayanagi Emerging Leadership Prize, Sloan Fellowship, NSF CAREER award, and Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellowship. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications, many of which have received best paper awards at premier HCI conferences, Klemmer has significantly contributed to the field of interaction design. His educational background includes a dual BA in Art-Semiotics and Computer Science from Brown University, along with an MS and PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Klemmer continues to shape the future of design education and research, mentoring a new generation of leaders in the field.
