Scott Klemmer is a distinguished Professor of Cognitive Science and Computer Science & Engineering at the University of California San Diego, where he co-founded and serves as Associate Director of the Design Lab. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at Stanford University, where he co-directed the Human-Computer Interaction Group. Klemmer's groundbreaking work has influenced organizations globally through the development of open-source design tools and curricula. He is recognized for introducing peer assessment in online education, having taught the first peer-assessed course in this format. His accolades include the Katayanagi Emerging Leadership Prize, Sloan Fellowship, NSF CAREER award, and Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellowship. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications, many of which have received best paper awards at premier HCI conferences, Klemmer has significantly contributed to the field of interaction design. His educational background includes a dual BA in Art-Semiotics and Computer Science from Brown University, along with an MS and PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
