His commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and career development spans government, academia, and industry, where he works to establish consortia that accelerate advancements in informatics and patient care. As the Dwight and Dian Diercks President of the Mayo Clinic Platform, he is currently researching algorithmic bias alongside Young J. Juhn, M.D., M.P.H., a project with significant implications for artificial intelligence and health equity, highlighting its importance to the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Halamka is also dedicated to educating future healthcare technology professionals, leveraging his extensive experience to teach a diverse range of audiences, from medical students to international policymakers, having previously served as a professor at Harvard Medical School for 25 years. His unique blend of research, clinical expertise, and passion for teaching has facilitated the implementation of innovative technologies in various settings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he co-led the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition and the national convalescent plasma initiative, The Fight Is In Us, and actively participated in Harvard's Clinical and Translational Science Awards program, contributing as the co-principal investigator of Harvard's i2b2 project and Harvard Catalyst efforts.
