Chris Webber, born Mayce Edward Christopher Webber III on March 1, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan, is a former professional basketball player renowned for his impactful career in the NBA, primarily with the Sacramento Kings. Standing 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 245 pounds, he was drafted first overall by the Golden State Warriors in 1993. Over his 15-season career, Webber earned five NBA All-Star selections and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1994. He gained fame as a member of the "Fab Five" at the University of Michigan, leading the team to two NCAA Championship games in the early 1990s. Despite facing challenges, including a federal indictment related to a scandal that stripped him of his All-American honors, Webber's legacy includes being a five-time All-NBA Team member and having his jersey retired by the Kings. After retiring from professional basketball, he transitioned into broadcasting and education, teaching at various universities. In 2021, he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, solidifying his status as one of basketball's greats.
