Learn to design and implement evaluations for large-scale public health programs in low- and middle-income countries, focusing on RMNCAH and nutrition.

This comprehensive course introduces the principles and methods for evaluating public health programs operating at scale, with a particular focus on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition (RMNCAH) programs in low and middle-income countries. The curriculum equips participants with practical skills to critique existing evaluations, develop technically-sound evaluation plans, guide program managers through evaluation processes, and make informed decisions about pursuing evaluation as a career path. Students will learn to select appropriate evaluation designs, identify relevant stakeholders, develop impact models, choose suitable indicators and data sources, and analyze implementation strength and quality of care. The course addresses various evaluation methodologies including adequacy, plausibility, and probability evaluations, while emphasizing equity considerations and strategies to promote the uptake of evaluation findings. Supported by the Real Accountability, Data Analysis for Results (RADAR) project, this course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical tools for conducting meaningful program evaluations.
