Module Description

This comprehensive course explores digital asset technology across three key areas: technology, business/economics, and legal/regulatory aspects. In the technology module, you'll learn about blockchain history and principles, consensus mechanisms, distributed file systems, token standards, smart contracts, cryptocurrencies, blockchain protocols, wallets and custody solutions, scalability, interoperability, privacy, decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and oracles. The business and economics section covers the blockchain ecosystem, industry investment trends, capital raising through ICOs and IEOs, blockchain economics, token investments, business tokenization, digital asset business models, governance structures, sustainability considerations, applications in traditional financial services, decentralized finance (DeFi), non-financial sector applications, NFTs, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). The legal and regulatory module examines the treatment of crypto assets and applications, fundraising regulations, legal standing of blockchain technology and smart contracts, regulatory challenges of distributed ledger technology, competition law considerations, RegTech applications, legal perspectives on DAOs, and intellectual property issues in blockchain.

Dr. Radhakrishna Dasari is the Technical Education Lead at Web3 Foundation, spearheading efforts to scale Polkadot education and promote understanding of Web3 technologies. With a strong academic background, including an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, Dasari brings valuable expertise to his role. Prior to joining Web3 Foundation, he served as faculty in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Vermont, accumulating three years of experience teaching Computer Science courses.
