David Atienza is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the head of the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL). With over 15 years of experience in the field, he specializes in next-generation embedded systems for the Internet of Things (IoT), focusing on smart objects and their integration into everyday applications. Atienza earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Complutense University of Madrid and completed his Ph.D. in integrated circuit design and embedded systems design through a joint program with IMEC in Belgium. He has held various academic positions at EPFL since 2008, advancing to full professor status in 2021. His research interests encompass hardware-software co-design, energy-efficient computing systems, and thermal-aware optimization techniques for multi-processor systems-on-chip (MPSoCs). Atienza's contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named an IEEE Fellow and an ACM Fellow for his work on high-performance integrated systems. He has published over 400 papers, co-authored two books, and holds multiple patents, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in embedded systems research and development.

Bettina Buechel is a Professor of Strategy and Organization at IMD, specializing in helping large corporations navigate the challenges of digitization. With a focus on strategy implementation, new business development, and change management, she works closely with CEOs to enhance organizational capabilities and drive strategic priorities. Buechel has led numerous custom programs for major companies such as Nestlé, Tetra Pak, and AGC, emphasizing the importance of addressing underlying barriers to successful strategy execution. She has published extensively, including the "Strategy Execution Playbook," and developed innovative pedagogical tools like simulation games to enhance learning in executive education. Her academic contributions have appeared in leading journals, and she has received accolades for her work, including an EFMD Excellence in Practice Gold Award for a program developed for the Moroccan state-owned firm OCP.
