He previously served as a Senior Lecturer and Research Associate at the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) at EPFL. Aminifar received his Ph.D. from the Swedish National Computer Science Graduate School (CUGS) at Linköping University in 2016. His research focuses on privacy-preserving and edge machine learning applications within the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile health, and medical informatics domains. He has been instrumental in developing novel algorithms for federated learning, emphasizing energy efficiency and robustness in resource-constrained environments. In addition to his research contributions, Aminifar teaches courses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for IoT, fostering the next generation of engineers in these critical fields. His work aims to enhance the security and functionality of smart technologies in healthcare and other sectors while addressing the challenges posed by data privacy and system efficiency.
