Dr. Pierre d'Argent serves as Full Professor and holder of the Public International Law Chair at the University of Louvain while maintaining positions as visiting professor at Leiden University and special counsel to Foley Hoag LLP. As current President of the European Society of International Law and Member of the Institut de droit international, he has established himself as a leading authority in public international law. His scholarly contributions include over 100 published articles and book chapters, an award-winning book, a published course at The Hague Academy of International Law, and a Massive Open Online Course on edX. His practical legal experience encompasses representing states in cases involving land and maritime disputes, genocide, war reparations, human rights, and environmental claims. He serves on the editorial boards of prestigious journals including the European Journal of International Law, Annuaire français de droit international, and Revue belge de droit international. As a member of the Brussels Bar, he continues to shape international law through both academic work and legal practice, while his selection by the European Union as a potential arbitrator for various trade agreements demonstrates his ongoing influence in international dispute resolution.
