Pierre d’Argent

Dr. Pierre d'Argent serves as Full Professor and holder of the Public International Law Chair at the University of Louvain while maintaining positions as visiting professor at Leiden University and special counsel to Foley Hoag LLP. His expertise spans multiple areas of international law, with extensive experience representing states before international courts and tribunals. As current President of the European Society of International Law and Member of the Institut de droit international, he has established himself as a leading authority in public international law. His scholarly contributions include over 100 published articles and book chapters, an award-winning book, a published course at The Hague Academy of International Law, and a Massive Open Online Course on edX. His practical legal experience encompasses representing states in cases involving land and maritime disputes, genocide, war reparations, human rights, and environmental claims.
