Zhou Jilin is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Astronomy and Space Science at Nanjing University. He graduated from the Department of Astronomy with a degree in celestial mechanics in 1995 and remained at the university to pursue his doctorate. After obtaining his PhD, he became an associate professor in 1998, a professor in 2003, and a doctoral supervisor in 2004. Throughout his career, he has held several leadership positions, including deputy director of the Department of Astronomy (responsible for teaching) from 2000 to 2008, party secretary of the School of Astronomy and Space Science from 2010 to 2014, and dean of the School since 2013. He was an organizing member of the Celestial Mechanics Committee of the International Astronomical Union from 2003 to 2009 and is currently the director of the Celestial Mechanics and Satellite Dynamics Committee of the Chinese Astronomical Society. Additionally, he serves as deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal of Astronomy and holds editorial board positions with Science China G: Physics, Mechanics, Astronomy, and Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Dr. Zhou has also enriched his expertise as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the University of Cambridge in the UK.
