KU LeuvenZdzislaw Kedzia, born on July 2, 1943, in Radom, Poland, is a prominent legal scholar and human rights expert who serves as Professor and Chair of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam-Mickiewicz-University of Poznań. His distinguished career spans academia, diplomacy, and international organizations, with significant contributions to human rights protection. He served as Minister-Counselor at Poland's Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, General Rapporteur of the II World Conference on Human Rights, and Senior Adviser to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Currently, he holds the position of Vice-Chairperson of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and is the National Director of the European Masters Programme in Human Rights. His expertise encompasses international human rights protection, constitutional law, minority rights, and treaty bodies. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in Poland's constitutional reforms and its rapprochement with the Council of Europe. At Adam-Mickiewicz-University, he leads research projects focusing on human rights, constitutional reforms, business and human rights, and the relationship between human rights and security. His work has significantly influenced both academic discourse and practical implementation of human rights protection mechanisms at national and international levels.
