Dr. Zakaryya Mohamed Abdel-Hady is an Associate Professor of Islamic Thought and Culture at Qatar University's College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, with a Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow (1997). His academic journey includes positions as a research fellow at the Universities of Glasgow and Abertay Dundee before establishing his career in the UAE and Qatar. His research portfolio spans critical contemporary issues including gender studies, Islamophobia, Muslim representation in media, and the impact of Islamic beliefs on social behavior. He has published extensively in both Arabic and English through prestigious international journals and publishers like Springer, while securing numerous research grants from Qatar University and the Qatar National Research Fund. Beyond academia, he has served in key leadership positions including Department Chair of Dawah and Islamic Culture, while maintaining a significant media presence through contributions to Al-Jazeera English, Chicago Public Radio, and Qatar Radio, making him a prominent voice in both academic and public discourse on Islamic studies and contemporary Muslim issues.
