Georgetown UniversityYuriy Gusev serves as Director of Health Informatics and Data Science and Associate Professor of Bioinformatics at Georgetown University's Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics (ICBI), bringing over two decades of experience in academic and industry research. After completing his training in applied mathematics and computational biology at St. Petersburg University and postdoctoral work in cancer genetics at Rutgers University's Waksman Institute, he developed his expertise across bioinformatics, systems biology, and computational modeling. His leadership extends to directing a bioinformatics analytical team developing pipelines for multi-omics and Next Generation Sequencing data analysis, while managing large-scale projects including the Georgetown Database of Cancer (G-DOC), the In silico Research Center of Excellence, and collaborations with NCI, FDA, and Argonne National Labs. His academic career includes developing novel methodologies for cancer biomarker analysis at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and serving as co-director of the bioinformatics core at the University of Oklahoma. His educational impact is evidenced through his successful MOOC "Demystifying Big Data" which attracted over 4,000 global students, and his current role directing Georgetown's Master's Program in Health Informatics & Data Science, where he implements innovative approaches to teaching bioinformatics and computational biology
