Tsinghua UniversityProfessor Ying Xiao has established himself as a leading figure in Chinese philosophy and aesthetics at Tsinghua University's Department of Philosophy. Born in Weiyuan, Sichuan in 1962, he completed his PhD in Philosophy from Peking University and pursued additional post-doctoral studies. His academic influence spans multiple prestigious institutions, serving as both a professor at Tsinghua University and research fellow at Peking University's Research Center for Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education and Institute for Cultural Industries. His scholarly contributions are evidenced through numerous influential works, including "To Say or Not to Say?—A Collection of Literary Criticism" (2014), "The Ming Dynasty Volume of History of Chinese Aesthetics" (2014), and "The Universe Is One Finger: A Collection of Papers on Cultural Criticism" (2012). His earlier works, such as "A Guide to Chinese and Western Art" (2005) and "The True and the Infinite" (2002), demonstrate his commitment to bridging Chinese and Western philosophical traditions while advancing aesthetic theory. Through his role as doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua's Department of Philosophy, he continues to shape the next generation of scholars in philosophy and aesthetics.
