Xu Biao has established himself as a prominent figure in epidemiology at Fudan University, with particular expertise in infectious disease epidemiology and health system research. As a Professor of Epidemiology and Doctoral Supervisor, he also holds a visiting professorship at Sweden's Karolinska University. His leadership extends across multiple prestigious positions, including Chairman of the Health Specialty Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association and membership on the Disease Prevention and Control Expert Committee of the Ministry of Health. His contributions to tuberculosis research have earned him numerous accolades, including scientific and technological progress awards from Chinese Preventive Medicine, Shanghai Medical Association, and the Outstanding Professor Award from the American Chinese Medical Foundation. As Executive Director of the Chinese Anti-Tuberculosis Association and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Anti-Tuberculosis Journal, he has significantly influenced TB control policies in China. His academic impact is further demonstrated through his role as editor-in-chief of key epidemiology textbooks published by Fudan University Press and his appointment as a Policy Research Member of the Rockefeller Foundation.
