Tsinghua UniversityDr. Xiaohong Guan has established himself as a leading expert in systems engineering and smart grid technology, holding dual prestigious positions as Cheung Kong Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University and Director of the Center for Intelligent and Networked Systems at Tsinghua University. His academic journey began at Tsinghua University, where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in control engineering, followed by a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1993. His professional experience includes working as a Senior Consulting Engineer at PG&E and visiting Harvard University's Division of Engineering and Applied Science. Since 1995, he has been with Xi'an Jiaotong University, where he was appointed Dean of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering in 2008, while simultaneously serving as Department Head of Automation at Tsinghua University from 2003 to 2008. His research contributions span optimization of electrical power systems, market dynamics, and cyber-physical systems, with over 160 scholarly publications and five patents to his credit. As an IEEE Fellow and editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, he continues to shape the field through his work on smart grids, sensor networks, and complex networked systems, while his achievements have been recognized with numerous awards including the National Outstanding Young Investigator Award of China and the Second Prize of the National Award for Natural Science of China.
