Professor Xiaobo Zhou is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where he serves as the Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. A Professor of Computer Science, he has an extensive career and has made significant contributions to the field of computer network systems. From 2011 to 2016, Professor Zhou served as the Chair of the Department of Computer Science. He is also the Director of the Distributed, Sustainable, and Cloud Computing Systems (DISCO) Lab, where his research focuses on several critical areas of modern computing, such as datacenter cloud computing, Big Data parallel and distributed processing, and autonomic and sustainable computing. His work also extends to scalable Internet services, network architectures, and security.Professor Zhou's groundbreaking research has earned him recognition and financial support from prestigious institutions like the US National Science Foundation (NSF). His innovative contributions were acknowledged with the NSF CAREER Award in 2009 and the University Faculty Award for Excellence in Research in 2011. He has shaped the academic landscape with his knowledge and leadership.In addition to his research, Professor Zhou teaches a variety of courses in the computer science discipline, including Fundamentals of Network Communication, Packet Switching Networks and Algorithms, Peer-to-Peer Protocols and Local Area Networks, and TCP/IP and Advanced Topics.
