The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityXianyi Zeng is a distinguished professor at ENSAIT Engineer School, University of Lille, and Director of the GEMTEX National Laboratory in France. His journey began in China before moving to France in 1987, where he earned his PhD in automation and information technology from the University of Lille in 1993. His research spans artificial intelligence in textiles, fashion digitalization, sensory analysis, and intelligent wearable systems. Zeng has received numerous prestigious honors, including the French National Knight Award "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques," the Innovation Award from EU Innovation Radar, and honorary doctorates from the Technical University of Iasi and University of Boras. His significant contributions include developing new analytical methods for life cycle assessments, leading the SMDTEX research school funded by the EU's Erasmus Mundus programme, and pioneering AI applications in fashion design. As director of GEMTEX, he continues to drive innovation in sustainable textile management and digital transformation, while maintaining guest professorships at several Chinese universities including Donghua, Soochow, Nankai, and Wuhan Textile University. His vision extends to transforming the European textile industry through sustainability and digitalization initiatives.
