Tsinghua UniversityDr. Xia Huang serves as Professor at the School of Environment at Tsinghua University and Director of the State Key Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control, where she has established herself as a distinguished expert in environmental engineering and water treatment technologies. Her academic excellence has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Yangtse River Scholar award. Her research focuses on membrane-based water treatment technologies, bio-electrochemical systems for wastewater treatment, and resource recovery from wastewater. As a dedicated educator, she leads the National Best Course in Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineering and teaches Principles of Environment Engineering, earning recognition through the Baogang Outstanding Teacher Award, Beijing Excellent Teacher Award, and multiple teaching achievement awards from both Beijing and Tsinghua University. Her research contributions have been widely acknowledged with two National Science and Technology Progress Second Prizes, five First Prizes for Science and Technology Progress in higher education, and the 2009 Environmental Science and Technology journal's Top 10 Best Papers award. As a Distinguished Fellow of the International Water Association and former Chair of the IWA Specialist Group on Membrane Technology, she has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and authored or co-authored four books, while serving as an editor for prestigious journals including Water Research X and Frontiers in Environmental Science and Engineering.
