Wynand van de Ven

Prof. Dr. Wynand van de Ven has been a professor of Health Insurance at Erasmus University Rotterdam since 1986, where he specializes in managed competition within healthcare systems, competitive health insurance markets, and risk adjustment. He completed his thesis on "Studies in Health Insurance and Econometrics" at Leiden University and has since contributed extensively to the field through research and advisory roles for various organizations, including the World Bank and the World Health Organization. A founding member of the European Risk Adjustment Network, Dr. van de Ven has also served as Programme Director for the Master in Health Economics, Policy, and Law at Erasmus University. His work encompasses critical issues such as risk selection, moral hazard, and priority choices in healthcare, making him a significant figure in shaping health policy and insurance practices globally.
