Lee serves as Chair Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Director of the Knowledge Management and Innovation Research Centre at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. As a pioneer in knowledge management research and practice, he has led groundbreaking initiatives across various industrial sectors in Hong Kong, including manufacturing, trading, public utilities, and healthcare. His research focuses on knowledge elicitation and mapping, unstructured information management, and organizational learning and innovation. He holds significant editorial roles as co-chief editor of the Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems and chief editor of the International Journal of Knowledge and Systems Science. As former Head of the State Key Laboratory of Ultra-precision Machining Technology and Chairman of the International Committee of the Global MIKE Award, he has made substantial contributions to advancing manufacturing engineering and knowledge management practices. His work with Microsoft led to establishing the Digital Factory and PolyU-Microsoft Enterprise Systems Centre, demonstrating his commitment to bridging academic research with industrial applications.
