Vineet Goyal

Vineet Goyal is an Associate Professor in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research department at Columbia University and a member of the Data Science Institute. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 2003 and his PhD in Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization from Carnegie Mellon University in 2008, he completed postdoctoral research at MIT's Operations Research Center. His research focuses on developing tractable approaches for dynamic optimization and decision-making under uncertainty, with applications in electricity markets and revenue management. His work has earned him several prestigious recognitions, including an Amazon Faculty Research Award (2019) and a DARPA Lagrange Grant. He has made significant contributions to various fields including robust optimization, revenue management, and online advertising attribution. As a faculty member at Columbia since 2010, he serves on multiple center affiliations including Computational Social Science, Financial and Business Analytics, and Smart Cities, demonstrating the broad impact of his research across different domains
