María Teresa Villanueva serves as the Chief Specialist in the Gender and Diversity Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she focuses on developing public-private partnerships to promote gender equity across the region. Her work includes advocating for public policies and programs that enhance women's participation in the workforce and leadership roles in both public and private sectors, notably through initiatives like PROLID. Previously, she led the Gender and Women's Economic Empowerment initiative at the IDB's Multilateral Investment Fund (FOMIN) and collaborated with the private sector to create job opportunities for vulnerable populations. María Teresa holds a Master's degree in Development Management from American University in the United States and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration from Francisco Marroquín University in Guatemala. Her expertise is instrumental in advancing gender equality and economic empowerment initiatives throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
