Delft University of TechnologyUlf Hackauf serves as a senior teacher and researcher at TU Delft's chair of Environmental Technology and Design in the Department of Urbanism. After completing his architectural education in Germany and Denmark, he gained extensive experience as a project architect on major developments across Europe. From 2007 to 2014, he held a significant position at The Why Factory (T?F) under Winy Maas, where he contributed to the Future Cities publication series and served as a guest teacher at ETH Zürich and IIT Chicago. Since 2015, he has focused on urban metabolism and sustainable design at TU Delft, where he coordinates the Urban Metabolism graduation lab and teaches in the master's program in Industrial Ecology. His current PhD research investigates the relationship between space and metabolism in urban neighborhoods, combining his architectural background with environmental technology expertise. As a core teacher in the Industrial Ecology program, he brings practical experience and theoretical knowledge to explore sustainable urban development solutions.
