Technische Universität MünchenProfessor Uchendu Eugene Chigbu has established himself as a leading authority in land management and social geodesy, currently serving as Associate Professor of Land Administration at the Namibia University of Science and Technology after a distinguished career at the Technical University of Munich. His academic journey spans three continents, with studies in Nigeria (Estate Management), the United Kingdom (Business and Management in Emerging Markets), and Germany, where he spent 13 years at TUM completing his master's and doctorate in Land Management. His research focuses on innovating societal challenges using land-based approaches, particularly in land administration, land-use planning, tenure security, and rural development. As co-Chair of the International Research Cluster of the Global Land Tool Network (UN-Habitat) and Coordinator of the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa, he has significantly influenced land policy implementation across Africa. His contributions to the field include developing the concept of tenure-responsive land use planning and creating influential MOOCs on land management. With over 2,500 citations to his research work, Professor Chigbu has made substantial impacts through his publications on land tenure, gender issues in land access, and rural transformation. His work bridges academic theory with practical application, particularly in developing countries, while his leadership in multiple international projects demonstrates his commitment to improving land governance and tenure security across Africa.
