Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyDr. Timothy Gutowski is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT with a distinguished 50-year career spanning acoustics, polymer processing, and environmental manufacturing. After earning degrees in Mathematics (B.S., 1967), Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (M.S., 1968), and Mechanical Engineering (Ph.D., MIT, 1981), he joined MIT's faculty in 1981. He served as director of MIT's Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity (1994-2004) and associate department head of Mechanical Engineering (2001-2005).
