Thorunn Petursdottir brings extensive expertise to her role as a senior expert in natural resource management at Iceland's Soil Conservation Service, where she has dedicated over twenty years to ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management. Her career evolution spans from providing practical land management guidance to farmers and land users to conducting applied transdisciplinary research in sustainability science. Her diverse research portfolio encompasses resilience-based resource management, investigating ecosystem functions, landscape restoration, social-ecological system analysis, policy development, institutional frameworks, organizational structures, benchmarking, program management, stakeholder engagement, participatory planning, and monitoring and evaluation methodologies. Throughout her career, she has contributed significantly to European scientific initiatives, authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and played an active role in shaping environmental policy in Iceland.
