Thomas Glass

Dr. Thomas Glass is a Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, specializing in social epidemiology with a focus on the influence of social and behavioral factors on population health. His research encompasses various areas, including chronic disease epidemiology, aging, obesity, and disaster epidemiology. Dr. Glass has conducted significant studies on social support and engagement among older adults and is currently developing a real-time data acquisition system to assess social, physical, and cognitive functions using sensors. He is a core faculty member of the Global Obesity Prevention Center at Johns Hopkins, where he directs research on childhood obesity determinants. Additionally, Dr. Glass plays an active role in education, co-directing training grants and overseeing advanced epidemiology methods courses. His contributions to public health research have been recognized through numerous publications and awards, including the Brookdale National Fellowship and the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence.
