Moran serves as the Marcus Wallenberg Chair in International Business and Finance at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, where he founded the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy. After earning his PhD from Harvard in 1971, he has established himself as a preeminent expert in foreign direct investment and development policy. His influential work includes authoring seminal books on foreign investment, including "Foreign Direct Investment in the United States" (2013) and "Foreign Direct Investment and Development" (2011). As a consultant to the United Nations, various governments, and international business communities, he provides expertise on using foreign direct investment for development and supply chain expansion. His public service includes appointments as Counselor to the World Bank's Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, Chairman of the Committee on Monitoring International Labor Standards at the National Academy of Science, and Associate to the National Intelligence Council. He currently serves as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at both the Peterson Institute for International Economics and the Center for Global Development, while directing courses for hundreds of students annually in international business-government relations and negotiations
