Tarik Serrano

Dr. Tarik Serrano is a Post-Doc Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (ICTA) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His research primarily focuses on the Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism (MuSIASEM) approach, which integrates various analytical methods for assessing rural systems. Dr. Serrano has extensive experience working on projects across multiple countries, including India, Laos, Guatemala, the USA, Mauritius, and Ecuador. As a former Prometeo Researcher, he has developed integrated analysis methods for rural territories to inform and design agrarian policies in Ecuador. He teaches the course Sustainability of Social-Ecological Systems: The Nexus between Water, Energy, and Food, where he explores the interconnections between these critical resources and their implications for sustainable development. Through his work, Dr. Serrano aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges and solutions in diverse socio-ecological contexts.
