SDG AcademyDr. Sung Jin Kang is a distinguished economist serving as Professor in the Department of Economics and Director of the Institute of Sustainable Development at Korea University, where he has been since 2003. His academic journey includes a PhD in Economics from Stanford University, followed by valuable experience at the University of Tsukuba in Japan from 1999 to 2003. As an expert in sustainable development, green growth, and climate change economics, he has significantly influenced policy through his advisory roles to the Korean government and international organizations. His research portfolio spans crucial areas including foreign direct investment, poverty reduction, and foreign aid, with over 68 research works garnering more than 670 citations. Currently serving as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Energy and Environment while directing the Institute of Sustainable Development, he continues to shape policy and academic discourse on green growth and sustainable economic development in Korea and beyond.
