Biomedical Informatics Pioneer and Data Science Leader at Georgetown University

Georgetown UniversitySubha Madhavan serves as the Chief Data Scientist and Founding Director of the Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she holds positions as Associate Professor of Oncology and Associate Dean for Health Informatics & Data Science. Her research focuses on extracting knowledge from big data to advance precision medicine, evidenced by her leadership in developing the Georgetown Database of Cancer and managing The Cancer Genome Atlas data coordination. After earning her Master's in Information Technology from the University of Maryland and PhD in Molecular Biology from the Uniformed Services University for Health Sciences, followed by postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins University, she has established herself as a world-class leader in clinical informatics and health IT. She currently leads multiple significant initiatives, including the NCI In Silico Research Center for Excellence and co-directs Lombardi Cancer Center's Biostatistics and Bioinformatics shared resource. Her impact on the field is demonstrated through numerous publications in prestigious journals such as Nature and Bioinformatics, and her induction as a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. She also leads the Biomedical Informatics program of the Georgetown-Howard Universities CTSA, furthering her commitment to advancing precision medicine through data science.
