Steve Skerlos, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan, is a renowned expert in sustainable design and innovation. With a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and a strong background in electrical engineering, Steve's research emphasizes the intersection of technology, sustainable product design, and environmental solutions. As Faculty Director and Co-Founder of the Center for Socially Engaged Engineering & Design, he brings an entrepreneurial spirit to academia, having successfully launched multiple companies based on groundbreaking research from his laboratory. His course "Introduction to Socially Engaged Design" introduces students to equity-driven, socially conscious design thinking.
