Barnes serves as Professor of Teaching in the Department of Psychology and Director of the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia, where he has established himself as a leader in neuroscience education and mental health research. His work spans multiple domains including online learning technologies through the Tapestry Project, student mental health and wellbeing initiatives, and bipolar disorder research as deputy lead of CREST.BD, which earned the 2018 CIHR Gold Leaf Prize for Patient Engagement.
