IBMSteve Martinelli currently serves as Director of Developer Advocacy and Community at Equinix, following an impressive career at IBM where he rose from intern to Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM). During his tenure at IBM from 2007 to 2021, he held various leadership roles including Senior Technical Staff Member and Engineering Manager, where he focused on developer advocacy for cloud and AI technologies. His significant contributions to OpenStack included serving as Project Team Lead for Keystone, OpenStack's Identity service, where he implemented enterprise features like Federated Identity and OAuth support. He co-authored "Identity, Authentication & Access Management in OpenStack" published by O'Reilly Media, demonstrating his expertise in cloud security. His career at IBM encompassed developing internal tools for product compatibility reports and WebSphere Application Server configuration tools. After IBM, he spent time at Shopify as a Developer Advocate before joining Equinix, where he continues to lead developer advocacy initiatives focusing on bare metal, multi-cloud, and networking technologies. He holds a B.ASc. in Computer Engineering from York University and has spoken at numerous conferences including Vivatech and Open Infrastructure Summit.
