Stephen Dunlop

Joseph Leanza serves as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of Global Health at Boston University School of Medicine, where he focuses on emergency medicine systems, disaster response, and environmental health. His work spans multiple countries, particularly in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Iraq, where he leads emergency medicine specialty and EMS systems development through the NGO Global Response Management. His expertise includes task-shifting in emergency medicine, having worked with Global Emergency Care in Uganda to train nurses and medical officers in emergency medicine principles. He has contributed to the Certification Program in Emergency Medicine in Pakistan and Bangladesh, developing simulation curricula and conducting outcomes research. His recent work combines emergency medicine education with climate change impacts on health, while maintaining active involvement in humanitarian response efforts. He is fluent in English and Spanish, with novice Arabic skills, enabling him to work effectively across diverse global settings.
